Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in Internet Robot Game.
A game about robots, capitalism, and death.
It is free to play.

The Project

This is a hobby project I've worked on exclusively in my free time over the last 5 years.
I have no interest in monetizing my hobby which is why it is free and will remain so.
I do not use "generative AI" on this project and have no interest in doing so.
The scope and ambition for the project is commensurate with those constraints.
It is more of an experiment to see what I could do and learn. As such I know it won't always live up to other people's standards or compete with professionally produced games.
But I can say I made it, and that's what matters most to me.
If people enjoy playing it that is purely an accident and for that you have my sincere apologies.

My only request is that if you do play, please send me any feedback you have!
There is a form in-game, you can post it in our discord here or DM on bluesky, whatever works best for you.
It would be cool if you liked playing, it would be even cooler if you would like to help make it better through your sharing your experience and feedback. (Thank you in advance for giving it a try!)

The Game

Play using any modern browser, preferably on desktop with a keyboard and mouse. It is an "mmo" in the sense that it is a single persistent game world that all players interact with in realtime. There is no instancing. The world is split into zones, and there are Bases in which you can leave a zone and customize your character, build equipment, and trade. Later blogs will detail this further.

Your presence on a zone is your Chassis, a robotic platform that can be customized with equipment, and enhanced with skills and bonuses. There are different things you can do on each zone with the right equipment, like mining ore, or shooting other robots.
When you die you lose your robot and everything on it and respawn back in Base, where you can buy a replacement if you have the cash. (This is where the capitalism and death themes come into play.) The NPC faction is also up to something, so you can go figure out what that is and explore the world.

I hope this piques your interest in trying out the game! Drop me a line even if you got this far ;) Thanks for reading!
